Who is a person on your field that you admire?
Well, I do not really know many biochemists, although there is a biochemistry that I know very well, since I had to do an interview and it is also an academic in our faculty. I'm talking about Dr Amalia Sapag
She was born in Santiago in 1963, is a biochemist at this university and did a doctorate in chemistry at the
Johns Hopkins University
This Dr I like it, since its investigation is very interesting and important, not only for the country, but for
the world, she is looking for
the antidote for the poison of the spider of nook.
His research is called "Aptamers from RNA against the main toxin of the spider venom of nook:
Gene therapyand molecular diagnosis"
Her research is well underway, she has been the researcher who has achieved the most, the inhibiting
the spider venom toxin by 26%, which although it may sound little, is really an impressive achievement.
She have also found 8 aptamers that are well on the way to becoming what it takes to find an antidote to
completely inhibit this toxin.
Wish you good luck, hopefully you will succeed.
Thank you for reading
